Questions

Warranty questions, answered

Not sure which warranty applies? Call us first at (604) 210-3850.

What warranties come with an Interlock roof in BC?

Two. The manufacturer, Interlock Roofing Ltd., gives the Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty on the aluminum material and its factory finish. The installer, Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd., gives a 10 Year Limited Labour Warranty on the workmanship. They are separate documents with separate terms.

What does "lifetime" mean in the Guardian warranty?

For as long as the original purchaser owns the home on which the roof was installed and remains the registered owner under the warranty. Coverage runs from the date of original installation.

Can I transfer the warranties if I sell my home?

The Guardian material warranty transfers once, to the first subsequent registered owner, who receives coverage to 50 years from the original installation date. The transfer needs notice to the manufacturer with proof of purchase within 60 days of the change of ownership and a $300 transfer fee. The 10 Year Limited Labour Warranty is not transferable.

Which warranty do I use for a leak?

If the problem is in how the roof was installed, such as flashings, trim or a detail, it is a labour warranty matter for Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. If the problem is a defect in the panels or their finish, it is a Guardian matter for the manufacturer. If you are not sure, call us first and we will tell you which applies.

How quickly do I need to report a workmanship issue?

Promptly, and no later than 10 days after you discover it. Contact Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. at bcservice@interlockroofing.com or 1-866-588-7663 with your name, address, phone number, certificate number and a description of the issue.

Are snow guards covered by the labour warranty?

No. Adding, removing or moving snow guards and snow-rails is not a workmanship warranty issue, and service charges apply. Contact your installation contractor to arrange it.
