Built for British Columbia

More than 25,000 km of coastline. A roof that cannot rust.

BC is a coastline, a rainforest, a snow belt and a fire zone, sometimes on the same drive. Here is what an Interlock® aluminum roof does about each.

Salt air

Aluminum cannot rust

There is no iron in aluminum, so there is nothing to rust. It forms its own thin oxide layer, which re-forms if the surface is scratched. That is why it is the metal for oceanfront homes, island cabins and anywhere the wind carries salt.

Wildfire

Class A Fire Rated Available, as a complete assembly

Under ASTM E108 a fire classification belongs to an assembly, not a panel. On our roofs Class A is achieved with two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, and the aluminum itself does not ignite. Ask us to quote the assembly if your home backs onto forest or grassland.

Cool roof

Reflects the sun in every colour, not only white

The Alunar® finish uses pigments that reflect much of the sun's near-infrared energy: solar reflectance from 0.25 to 0.55 depending on colour and thermal emittance of 0.84. The Alunar® finish is warranted for 30 years.

Energy

A cooler attic, a smaller cooling bill

A reflective roof keeps heat out of the attic in summer. Interlock roofs can cut cooling-energy use by up to 25% compared with conventional dark roofing. Actual savings vary with climate, colour, insulation and attic ventilation.

Solar

The roof to put solar on

A solar array lasts 25 to 30 years. Put it on an asphalt roof and the panels often have to come off and go back on when the roof wears out underneath them. On an Interlock roof they come off at the end of their own life, not the roof's. Standing Seam takes clamp mounts with no holes drilled; the other profiles use mounting hardware made for metal roofing. At roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre the roof leaves more of the structure's capacity for the array, and your solar installer confirms the framing.

Wind

Locked on four sides

Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides, with no exposed fastener for a storm to work at. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

What matters where you live

Months of rain, moss, character homes, strata councils and more homes going solar every year.

Rain and moss

Nothing in an aluminum panel for moss to root in or water to rot. Cedar softens and asphalt granules trap the debris moss grows in.

Character homes and strata

The look of cedar shake or slate on an older house, at a fraction of the weight, and paperwork strata councils can approve.

Solar on a roof that outlasts it

Put the panels up once. The roof under them outlives the array.

Waterfront homes

Where we've worked

North Vancouver roofing: 239 roofs installed. Here's where.

We install the Interlock® aluminum roofing system on homes across North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Deep Cove, Lions Bay and Bowen Island: interlocking panels locked on four sides with the fasteners out of the weather, made in Canada at the Interlock plant in Delta, BC.

Completed Interlock® roofs by community, from our job book. Every other part of BC has its own local site: same company, same crews, same warranty.

These are the regions we currently serve. Not sure which one your address falls in? Ask us.

Why metal, for North Vancouver roofing

What a North Vancouver winter does to a roof, and what interlocked aluminum does about it.

Rain

More rain than the city side of the inlet

Storms stall against the North Shore mountains, so the higher neighbourhoods get more rain than downtown and stay wet longer. Cedar holds that water and grows moss under the trees. Aluminum absorbs nothing and cannot rot.

Snow

Snow on the upper slopes

Higher up in North and West Vancouver the roof gets real snow some winters. A metal roof sheds it, so snow guards over entries, decks and driveways go in at the estimate, not after the first slide.

Forest

Homes backing onto forest

Much of the North Shore backs onto the mountainside. Class A is available on our roofs as a complete assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, per ASTM E108), and aluminum does not ignite. Embers get into gutters, vents and gaps, so we look at the roof edges with you too.

Access

Steep lots, Lions Bay and Bowen Island

Steep driveways, tight lots and a ferry to Bowen are part of the job here. We plan access, staging and material drops at the estimate so your install window in writing is one we can keep.

Recycled

Up to 95% recycled aluminum

And the last tear-off your house is likely to need.

Straight answers

North Vancouver roofing questions, answered first.

All of our answers ↗

How long have you been installing roofs in North Vancouver?

Our job book records Interlock® roofs on the North Shore since 1998, when the first went on in North Vancouver. There are 239 completed roofs on the North Shore on the books, 144 of them in North Vancouver itself.

Which roof profile do North Vancouver homeowners choose most?

Slate. The North Vancouver roofs in our job book are Slate (60), Cedar Shingle (32), Shake (15), Mediterranean Tile (15). The most common colours are Charcoal Grey, Black, Deep Charcoal.

Where else near North Vancouver have you installed roofs?

Completed Interlock® roofs in our job book: West Vancouver 67; Bowen Island 19; Lions Bay 8. Each community with three or more has its own page on this site.

Do you do roof repairs or asphalt shingles in North Vancouver?

No. We install one roofing system, the Interlock® aluminum roof, and we replace asphalt, cedar and tile roofs with it. If your roof needs a patch, we're not the right call. If it needs replacing, we are.

Where is your office?

9969 River Way, Delta, BC, the same address as the Interlock plant that makes the panels. Estimates on the North Shore are by appointment; call (604) 210-3850.

Are you a North Vancouver roofing company or a metal roofing company?

A North Vancouver roofing contractor, that installs one roofing system: the Interlock® aluminum roof, made in Canada in Delta. We replace asphalt, cedar and tile roofs on North and West Vancouver homes with it. We don't install asphalt shingles, so if you're shopping for the lowest price on a roof you'll replace again, we're not the right call. If you want the last roof the house needs, we are.

Free, no obligation

A free consultation on Zoom (most homeowners choose it) or at your home: we go through profiles and colours with you, measure the roof, and give you a fixed price in writing. No pressure, and an honest date for the install.
